Yes, it’s complicated to follow: while Tesla has removed the radars on the latest Model 3 and Y evolutions, that Elon Musk frequently repeats that they are less effective than very high resolution cameras and that , just yesterday, a contract worth several billion dollars had been signed with Samsung for 5 megapixel cameras, we learned on Twitter that the American brand had just filed a patent for new radars with the American authorities.

This news did not fail to worry some Tesla owners, especially among those who paid $12,000 for the FSD option which could quickly become obsolete before it even passed beta status. It is also a physical evolution which therefore could not be added via a remote update. However, it is still a bit early to be frightened: filing a patent does not necessarily imply commercialization.
