With a last-minute change of production location, the Tesla Model Y should be available in France from August 2021. A boon in view of the expectation of the European market for this model.

The Model Y is the SUV version of the Model 3. Sharing the same 100% electric platform. However, it can carry up to seven people. Given the success of the Model 3, Tesla expects its Model Y to become a best-seller as well, but delays in building its Gigafactory near Berlin have hampered production. Initially scheduled for July 2021, then postponed to January 2022, the first deliveries to European customers should take place in August 2021.

Pricing will start at €59,990 in France.

For the rest, the Model Y takes up what made the success of the Model 3, namely connectivity to the owner’s smartphone via the Tesla application for entering and starting the vehicle, remote unlocking and access to safety and comfort features such as Auto Exit, remote air conditioning activation, maximum speed limitation. All Model Y controls are accessible via a central 15-inch touchscreen or by voice command. Itou, the Model Y, designed to be the safest midsize SUV in the world according to Elon Musk’s vision, features a low center of gravity, a rigid chassis and large crumple zones for protection unique to its occupants, again according to the manufacturer.

Elon Musk aims to produce 1.5 million Model Ys per year from 2023 and make it the best-selling car in the world, ahead of the Toyota Corolla. Just that !
